For Absheron Operating Company at the Hovsan field, East West Drilling provided two core technical services on the drilling programme: measurement while drilling (MWD) and drilling fluid services.
The MWD package sits behind the bit and transmits inclination, azimuth and tool face data to surface in real time. That lets the crew compare the actual wellpath against the planned profile continuously and correct deviation before it grows — critical across an interval reaching 4,300 metres, where the cost of every correction rises with depth in both time and equipment terms.
On the fluid side, mud density, filtration behaviour and rheology were selected and monitored throughout the well to maintain cuttings transport, wellbore stability and pressure balance. Fluid parameters were adjusted as the geology of each drilled interval changed.
